Returning to Work & Exercise

Your return to work and exercise depends on the procedure, treated areas, symptoms and the demands of your activities. Ask for an individual plan before booking.

Describe your routine

Tell the team whether work involves lifting, standing, driving or prolonged sitting. A desk-work plan may not suit a physically demanding job.

Discuss exercise specifically

Ask separately about walking, gym training, swimming, contact sports and any activity that pressures a grafted area. Do not assume that being able to walk means strenuous exercise is appropriate.

Keep the plan flexible

Recovery can change your timetable. Arrange room to modify work or travel commitments and ask when the clinician wants to reassess your progress.
